Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino proposed on Monday the creation of a floating hospital for the Philippine Navy and Philippine Coast Guard , emphasizing its importance to better look after the safety and well-being of Filipinos navigating the high seas.
Tolentino envisions the floating hospital to act as first responders to medical emergencies at sea, attending to sick or injured soldiers and fisherfolk. “It took hours before Robert was brought to a medical facility after being rescued by the coast guard,” the senator noted. “If we had a floating hospital, our soldier could have been treated right there without needing to evacuate to Palawan,” he explained.
