For the second consecutive year, Tim Tebow's minor league baseball season ended early because of an injury, according to a report. The former Heisman Trophy winner suffered a cut on his left pinky last month that won’t heal in time for him to play again this year. Tebow, who turns 32 next week, was in the midst of his fourth the minor league season in the New York Mets organization. While his perseverance is uncanny, he's struggled offensively in Class AAA Syracuse this year. In 77 games, he batted just .163 with 98 strikeouts in 239 at-bats. His OPS of .495 is 239 points lower than it was in 2018 when he was in Class AA.

Tebow suffered the injury on his left hand while fielding a ball in the outfield during a July 21 game and hasn't played since and was placed on the injured list. It's been a busy year for the former college football star. In January, Tebow got engaged to Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, a model and former winner of the Miss Universe pageant.Published 9:49 AM EDT Aug 10, 2019
