A University Hospitals (UH) ambulance is headed to war-torn Ukraine.
More than a symbolic gesture of support, the donated supply-filled vehicle will be delivered by three UH Parma Medical Center urologic surgeons -- including Ukrainian-born Dr. Laura Bukavina, who will be visiting her homeland for the fourth time in the last 18 months.
Another compounding factor in addition to the war with Russia was the fact Ukrainian urologists -- the result of limited funds preventing educational opportunities -- lacked reconstructive experience. UH Parma Medical Center’s Dr. Shubham Gupta, Dr. Laura Bukavina and Dr. Kirtishri Mishra with the MedWish donated ambulance headed to Ukraine. The former is where Bukavina lived until the age of 11 when she emigrated stateside.
