A Louisiana mother and her two children were among the four people killed in a Boulder County plane crash on Sunday, the family said Thursday. The fourth person was the pilot.
Sandra Kirby, 48, and her children, Ian, 17, and Amanda, 13, were visiting Colorado on a summer vacation, said Ella Bordelon, also of Louisiana and an extended family member.
Bordelon said that she was notified Wednesday night when local Louisiana authorities, along with a chaplain, came to her home with notification of the fatal crash. Bordelon is the girlfriend of Kirby’s former husband, who is the father of the children.Kirby worked as a secretary at Louisiana State University, Bordelon said. Ian would be starting his senior year of the high school in the fall and Amanda was going into the eighth grade.
