The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has apprehended three Chinese nationals at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for presenting fraudulent documents. Two men were arrested for using fake exit clearances, while the third was apprehended for possessing a fraudulently acquired working visa.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has apprehended three Chinese nationals on two separate occasions at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport ( NAIA ) for presenting fraudulent documents. Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado disclosed the identities of the Chinese nationals as Wang Changru, 53, and Cui Wen, 33, who were arrested for using fake exit clearances. The third individual, Li Xuanjun, 23, was apprehended for possessing a fraudulently acquired working visa.

According to records, Wang and Cui were arrested on January 24th at NAIA Terminal 3 while attempting to board a Cathay Pacific Airlines flight to Hong Kong. They were flagged for presenting counterfeit emigration clearance certificates (ECC) purportedly issued on January 23rd, authorizing them to stay in the Philippines until February. Notably, both men were overstaying their visas, having initially arrived in 2019. BI NAIA 3 head Dennis Javier reported to Commissioner Viado that their centralized database detected inconsistencies in their presented documents and actual arrival records. Subsequently, it was confirmed that the ECCs were fraudulent, leading to their immediate arrest. They were transferred to the BI's legal division and face deportation proceedings for violating the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.Li Xuanjun, on the other hand, was arrested on January 22nd at NAIA Terminal 1 before he could board a Philippine Airlines flight to Quanzhou, China. During the processing, an immigration officer noticed a hit on Li's name in the bureau's automated derogatory check system, indicating that he was wanted by the BI for possessing a fraudulently obtained working visa. Li was handed over to personnel from the BI's Border Control and Intelligence Unit (BCIU), who subsequently brought him to the BI warden facility in Taguig City. He will remain there while awaiting deportation proceedings. Investigations revealed that Li's working visa was canceled by the BI in 2023 after it was discovered that he acquired it based on a fictitious employer company's petition. This led to the BI Board of Commissioners declaring Li's working visa null and void due to the fraudulent information provided during the application process
