Thousands of NYC nurses could still walk off the job on Monday, even after some hospitals have reached agreements.
. Thousands of nurses at three other hospitals are still planning to walk out if they can’t reach agreements with management.
The nurses are also calling for pay raises to keep up with the cost of living, along with improvements to their health insurance packages. A spokesperson for Montefiore did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Lucia Lee, a spokesperson for Mount Sinai, said the hospital system is continuing to negotiate and that it has agreed to pay increases.
Hagan said the hospital was “stirring fears” by transferring NICU patients and that union members at Mount Sinai were “outraged by these tactics.” She said nurses have already been forced to jeopardize their neonatal patients’ safety by caring for twice as many babies as they’re supposed to.
