Busloads of people from all over the state gathered on Monday morning for the state's first 'March for Life' since the overturning of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision.
One of the largest gatherings of people at the Pennsylvania Capitol in recent years is happening Monday, as thousands converge to celebrate the overturning of Roe v. Wade and to call for policies that impose restrictions on abortion.drew people from all across the state who filled the area around a stage at the bottom of the Capitol’s front steps for a rally, where they are scheduled to hear from advocates who share their view that life begins at the moment of conception and deserves protection.
Also scheduled to speak were Dr. Monique Ruberu, an obstetrician; former U.S. Senate candidate Kathy Barnette; Amy Scheuring, executive director of Women’s Choice Network; and the Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, Archbishop of Philadelphia. At the same time they gathered outside the Capitol, a band of House Democrats held a news conference inside the building to announce the introduction of a package of reproduction rights bills and to assert that abortion is part of women’s health care.
