Dayton Mayor responds to President Trump’s tweet: ‘He is a bully and a coward’Dayton, Ohio Mayor Nan Whaley spoke with CNN’s Anderson Cooper Wednesday evening, following President Trump's visit to her city. Trump visit the city to meet with the victims and first responders of the tragic mass shooting over the weekend.\nAfter Trump left Dayton to fly to El Paso, Texas where another mass shooting had recently occurred, Mayor Whaley held a press conference alongside Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown. During the press conference Whaley said, “I think the victims and the first responders were grateful that the President of the United States came to Dayton.”\nTrump apparently took offense to the press conference, tweeting, “...I saw failed Presidential Candidate (0%) Sherrod Brown & Mayor Whaley totally misrepresenting what took place inside of the hospital. Their news conference after I left for El Paso was a fraud. It bore no resemblance to what took place with those incredible people that I was so lucky to meet and spend time with.”\nIn response to the President’s tweet, Whaley told Cooper, “I really don't understand the comments at all, and, you know, he did have good report with the victims we said that and first responders were grateful.” She later reiterated, ”We really are grateful for the president coming and comforting these victims but what the city of Dayton wants is action out of Washington D.C.”\nUltimately, the mayor doesn’t really care what the president has to say or tweet about her and Senator Brown, she just wants the people of Dayton to not have suffered in vain. “He is a bully and a coward and it's fine he wants to bully me and Senator Brown, we're okay, we can take it,” said Whaley, adding, “The citizens of Dayton deserve action.”
