This '80s show killed MASH for good.

Much has been written about how big of an impact MASH had on television. Putting aside its great gags and ensemble cast, it took big creative swings, such as killing off Henry Blake during the third season.
Still, CBS wanted the second season to be even bigger. For some bizarre reason, CBS decided to pit AfterMASH against the third season of NBC's action hit The A-Team, which by then was a pop culture phenomenon. CBS even released a poster featuring Farr's Klinger dressed in a nurse's uniform shaving off Mr. T's mohawk to signal it would win the ratings battle; the opposite was true.
No Further MASH Spinoffs Were Attempted Following AfterMASH's End AfterMASH signaled the end of the franchise AfterMASH never won over critics, but its first series was still a comfortable success. The novelty of the spinoff was over by the time season 2 came around, and placing it in the same slot as The A-Team was a really poor choice.
This is why MASH can never - or more accurately, SHOULD never - be rebooted, since its cultural footprint is too large.
