This former club promoter is now working to solve the global water crisis:

In our wide-ranging interview, Scott and I discuss the one question that changed his destiny, his life changing experience in West Africa, how he started and scaled a non-profit with zero non-profit experience, what it takes to be a successful social entrepreneur, how he spearheaded a charity with a 100% donation model, his best career advice, and much more.Scott Harrison:

That trip to Liberia changed my life. I saw extreme poverty for the first time. The country didn't have running water, sewage system or electricity, and I was horrified by the lack of sanitation. I saw children drinking water from leech- and bacteria-infested ponds and swamps they shared with animals.

I had experience blasting out persuasive emails and throwing great events, so I drew on that knowledge when I returned from Africa and started charity: water. I did the only thing I knew how to do - I threw a party. I invited everyone I knew to my 31st birthday party and together we raised $15,000 to fund our very first water project in Northern Uganda.
