The Woodlands is celebrating Bike Month with a festival, an $8.3 million proposed pathway and TxDOT grant and several upcoming bike path updates.
Monticello and other pro-bike members understand the challenges associated with biking in Texas. Both spread out infrastructure and truck-friendly Texan culture can make biking sometimes difficult or dangerous.
Bike To Work Day isn’t about converting every suit-wearing Woodlands Waterway commuter. Instead, Monticello hopes to introduce people to more commuting options that are available, like short “last-mile” biking trips and public transit. The Woodlands township held a virtual public meeting over its public transit system April 27 and has aNunes said it’s in the beginning stages of a comprehensive study of the township’s transit, which will include a steering guidance committee. A study based on the findings will be presented to the township board of directors in February 2024, Nunes said.
Monticello said she’s proud of the township’s willingness to make bike-friendly changes, big or small.
