The U.S. public seems to like Trump's new paint scheme for Air Force One
Share to twitterLast month, President Trump unveiled a radical redesign of Air Force One's livery, showing ABC News' George Stephanopoulous four printed mock-ups of a paint job that appeared to be dark blue, red and white. Many observers were quick to point out the new livery's similarity to the appearance of Trump's personal Boeing 757 jet and helicopters before he took office.
The redesign would mark a major change from the iconic blue, white and gold color scheme that has been used by presidential aircraft since the days of the Kennedy administration. Two Boeing 747-8 aircraft are currently being converted into VC-25B presidential transports in San Antonio, Texas, and are expected to be delivered in 2024.

It isn't clear whether the planes will be painted to Trump's liking. Rep. Joe Courtney introduced an amendment to the 2020 defense spending bill last month that would require Trump to seek congressional approval for spending on the paint and interior. Rep. Bradley Bryne described the move as"an attempt to just poke at the president.
Away from the turbulence in Congress, what does the U.S. public think of Trump's move to overhaul one of the most recognizable symbols of American prestige on the world stage?conducted for Statista found that Americans favor Trump's redesign. The survey of 1,246 U.S. adults conducted in June found that 51% prefer Trump's new red, white and blue livery while 32% want to stick with the traditional blue, white and gold scheme, which dates back to 1962.
The Air Force has said that there will be no decision on Trump's paint scheme until 2021, after the next presidential election.
