Lownie told me: “The various government departments handling FOI requests go under various Orwellian titles—Knowledge and Information Management Unit , Information Rights, etc.—they don’t have phone numbers or even addresses and all emails and responses are anonymous so one has no idea who one is dealing with. The people who vet documents before release are generally retired government officials, known as weeders.
