Patients who were admitted to hospitals because they had attempted suicide or self-harmed were six times and three times more likely to be diagnosed with ADD, respectively, as compared with other causes of injury. The rates of self-harm in total were discovered to be about 8.5 times higher for children diagnosed with ADHD .
