Her Majesty was in attendance to celebrate the new transport line
was all smiles as she opened the new railway line - a feat of engineering which will connect Heathrow Airport to Reading in a stretch of rail over 100km long. The line is named in honour of the monarch and The Queen revealed a plaque to reveal the line was"officially opened."Her Majesty attended to open the first part of the line, which runs between Paddington and Abbey Wood. For the occasion, The Queen was joined by her youngest son, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.
Appearing at Paddington station and wearing a vibrant yellow outfit, she looked radiant and cheery as she took part in the opening of the historic transport system. Her Majesty accessorised with a matching hat and sentimental jewellery - a Singapore diamond brooch given by the President of Singapore to Her Majesty for her Diamond Jubilee. She also wore pearl and diamond studs which she inherited from her grandmother.
This is the Queen's first appearance in London for seven weeks. It comes as the nation is preparing for a special bank holiday weekend to mark
