Mufarreh bought the cheesesteak shop and bar from Jake Gillis, a Philadelphia native who first opened the East Coast-inspired eatery in 2005. He built its sturdy wooden bar, dedicated an entire wall to the Schuylkill River, proudly hung midnight green and silver decor and even suspended his own skinny, long riverboat from the ceiling.
