The Nürburgring record-setting Civic Type R is a special edition.
Honda made waves on Thursday when it announced that the Civic Type R is once again the fastest front-wheel drive car to ever lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife, setting a time of 7:44.881.
The company had already revealed that the record was set on optional Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire, but the European version of the brand's release reveal that the car also got an added boost from a little bit of weight saving.the resulting Civic was actually a lighter variant called the Type R S grade.
