The NCAA has implemented a new rule change which bans photoshoots during unofficial visits — a curious move which could change the focus of recruiting trips moving forward.
One of the best ways to ingratiate young players to a college program is by having him don said team’s uniform and walk through its facilities and into a studio where they are the center of attention. Those stops, in the future, will be reserved for official visitors.
On April 13, 2023, the NCAA Division 1 Council announced that it will no longer limit recruits to five official visits. Recruits are also allowed a second official visit to a school if there is a head coaching change post-visit. Transfer windows in all sports were also reduced to 45 days during a D-1 Council meeting on Oct. 4. Basketball’s window will open for 45 days following Selection Sunday, while the football window will open for 30 days following the regular season, and for 15 days each spring.
