Just how good is the new MacBook Pro 16in? These five graphs tell you everything you need to know
I’m not running any massive memory hogs on the MacBook, but I am often running heavy duty apps such as Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, often with several other apps open at the same time. Not to mention gaming. For most professional users, I suspect 16GB will be more than adequate.If the memory has never been pushed to the limit, the M1 Pro has barely got out of second gear.
True, I’m not doing anything drastically demanding, such as 4K video editing, but my average workload regularly pushed the performance of my 2019 MacBook Pro to the point where the fans were a loud distraction during the working day. Talking of which...It’s been over a month now and I’ve not heard the fans once. It would take about 30 mins of usage in the morning for the noisy fans to kick in on my 2019 MacBook Pro. As you can see from the graph, they’ve barely been active in 30 days.
The same is true for the many different components that iStat Menus measures. What’s more, the laptop is never hot to touch - unlike the 2019 MacBook Pro, which would often get uncomfortably toasty above the keyboard.
