In his first week, he had three meetings set up with victims’ family members and spoke to a handful of news outlets — a contrast with his predecessor, Hal Harrell, who, overwhelmed by media requests after the shooting, stayed mostly unavailable.If there is something he can’t do, he wants to be clear with the community about why, he said.
“It isn’t happening as fast as anyone wants,” Patterson said. “But it is not because we aren’t moving forward. We are.”“I want a culture where feel comfortable, where they are going to come, feel safe, have a good environment to work in; and we are providing the social needs for the kids and the adults as they need it,” Patterson said.
