The Friday evening attack in the Dutch capital occurred in the proximity of a Hudson’s Bay department store on a busy shopping street near the city’s main market square, police reported around 2:30 p.m. EST.City police said they were searching for a man aged 45 to 50, with short, dark curly hair and wearing a grey tracksuit, who they believe to be behind the attack.
Police have urged the public to contact them if they see or have news of anyone matching the description of the suspect. Authorities said in a statement that emergency services were on the scene and that there is not yet a motive for the stabbing.This is the second major stabbing in a European capital on Black Friday, following what police described as a “terrorist incident” on the London Bridge
. While the London Bridge attacker was shot dead by police, two people have been confirmed dead in that stabbing, with three more wounded, according to Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick.
