Lidya Jewett joins The Exorcist 2023 cast for an undisclosed role. So, who is she playing?
The Exorcist 2023 cast the actor who may be playing its possessed child. The film – which is coming to theaters on October 13 – is being directed by David Gordon Green as the beginning of a trilogy of legacy sequels to the 1973 classic, just like his Halloween trilogy that kicked off in 2018. The currently untitled project will star Leslie Odom Jr. as a father whose child is being afflicted by demonic forces that lead him to believe he might need to call an exorcist.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Per Deadline, Lidya Jewett has just been cast in a major role in The Exorcist. The actor joins a lineup that also includes Hereditary and The Handmaid's Tale star Ann Dowd. Her character has not yet been specified, but considering that the 16-year-old is the first young actor who has been cast in the film, she could very well be playing Odom Jr.'s possessed daughter.
Jewett's extensive television experience includes all 50 episodes of the NBC crime dramedy Good Girls. In that series, she was part of the main cast, playing Ruby and Stan's daughter Sara. In addition to that major role, she has also appeared in Grey's Anatomy, See Dad Run, and all 20 episodes of Nickelodeon's WITS Academy.
How the Reboot Ties Into the Original Exorcist While it is still unclear if Jewett's character will occupy a similar role as Linda Blair's Regan MacNeil in the original film, The Exorcist 2023 will nevertheless take place in explicit continuity with the 1973 film. In addition to the new cast, original star Ellen Burstyn will reprise the role of Regan's mother Chris MacNeil. In the new film, Odom Jr.
