What...did we just watch?
. Granted, the musical itself is already an absolute fever dream of weird, and if you’ve already seen it, you know that this trailer, while scary as hell, kind of nails the vibe?
If you haven’t seen it and aren’t familiar with the story, here’s the basics: It’s about a group of stray cats who live in a junkyard on the night of something called the Jellicle Ball, at which one cat will be chosen to ascend to the Heaviside layer to start a new life. That’s the official synopsis, anyway. In laymen’s terms, all the cats sing songs introducing themselves until one of them gets to die? Literally, it makes no sense.
Now that we have that out of the way, it’s important to note that the stage version at least has cool costumes and some very beautiful choreography. The movie, on the other hand, just has pure, unbridled terror, as far as the internet can see. Something about how all the actors have been covered with CGI fur and have tails, but you can’t really tell where the tails are coming from, and somehow the CGI cat costumes make all the actors look more naked than they would if they were actually naked — everything about this trailer is nightmare fuel and we are not OK.
I don't know why you're all freaking out over miniature yet huge cats with human celebrity faces and sexy breasts performing a demented dream ballet for kids.
