What was shocking was how common and prevalent these stories were. People in lots of different industries were feeling crushed by the system. In the entertainment industry we’re getting rid of all these bad apples, firing all these men who are predators, but there are more systemic problems. There aren’t enough women in the film industry, and I think the film industry is inherently structured against women.
While the film is not explicitly set in any particular year, there were particular elements of the computers, the phones, and the characters’ clothes that felt very mid-2000s. Did you want the film to feel as though it was set in a specific time and place?
