‘A Thousand and One’ is a thrilling evolution for Teyana Taylor, which sees the singer burrow deep into a tricky dramatic role with aplomb.

As 17-year-old Terry, Cross shows a keen understanding of teenage oscillation. Terry is careful around his mom, trying to tuck under her wing while also asserting himself. He attempts young-man swagger with his friends, but reveals a softer side to a crush, Simon .
