Texas Rangers pitcher Zak Kent photographed at the team's training facility on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, in Surprise, Ariz.created a little more space on the 40-man roster by sending right-handed pitcher Zak Kent to the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for international bonus pool slot money.
Kent, 26, had a disappointing spring after coming to camp with a chance to put himself in position to be a depth option for the rotation. Along with higher-profile prospects Owen White and Cole Winn, he was among the first group of players cut.Kent has an above average breaking ball, but was hurt for most of last year and pitched just 40 innings between the Arizona Complex League and Triple-A Round Rock. He compiled a 4.87 ERA in those innings with 13 walks and 43 strikeouts.
