The Longhorns exorcised some nagging demons against the Hokies in an 81-73 win at Fiserv Forum, turning in an impressive second-half performance to earn the program’s first NCAA tournament win since March 20, 2014. Even with Texas mucking it up, the Hokies were seconds away from taking a 32-31 lead into halftime. Then senior Marcus Carr, conjuring up images of this program’s 2016 first-round loss to Northern Iowa, banked in a 70-foot prayer to lend Texas a 34-32 halftime lead.The Longhorns looked looser, particularly Carr and Allen.
