The Texans utilized a two-quarterback system on Sunday against the Cowboys.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott gets off a pass as he is pressured by Houston Texans linebacker Ogbonnia Okoronkwo during the second half of an NFL football game Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, in Arlington.ARLINGTON — One by one, as the Texans players passed from the game field through the tunnel to the visitor’s locker room at AT&T Stadium, they took their helmets off and their faces told the story.
How could they not score inside the 5-yard line when they had four chances? Why didn’t they challenge the play when it appeared Chris Moore crossed the goal line? The Texans’ offense, which has been horrendous most of this season, actually played one of its better games against a Cowboys defense that is top five in the NFL.
“It kept honest,” right tackle Tytus Howard said. “When Jeff was in there, they were thinking we were going to run and sometimes we didn’t run, we’d pass it. When Davis was in there, they were thinking it’s pass, and we’d run the ball.” Howard is right on both fronts. The Texans did play better and they scored more points. So credit to the coaching staff for that, especially when their top two receivers were out with injuries. They got themselves out of a rut and can possibly build on it.
Their second play – a play-action pass to Moore – went for 4 yards and looked like a touchdown as Moore reached across the end zone. The officials ruled Moore down, short of the goal line.“I did,” he said. “The eye in the sky and what we felt on the field were two different things, so I’m interested in watching and seeing what really happened. On the field I thought I scored, my teammates thought I scored.
