The preliminary court hearing for two remaining defendants in a more than 12-year-old fatal Santa Cruz stabbing case began Wednesday with testimony from a first-hand witness.
According to Wilson, the four friends had entered physical combat with the group on the street before their driver yelled for them to “run” and headed back toward his waiting car, witness and participant Seamus Wilson testified. Tenorio, however, was tripped from behind by a member of the opposing group, Wilson testified. Members of the group then began punching and kicking Tenorio, who was curled into a fetal position on the street, he said.
During a 2020 press conference, Santa Cruz County District Attorney Jeff Rosell announces the extradition and arrest of Paulo Ramirez Luna, one of five men suspected of involvement in the 2009 fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Tyler Tenorio of Santa Cruz. Realizing his friend was in trouble, Wilson made his way back to Tenorio and pulled him by his foot out from the center of the group, he said. It was not until Wilson failed to hoist Tenorio onto his shoulder and pulled his friend onto his lap that he realized the teen was bleeding from his stomach, later determined by police to be the area of numerous knife wounds.
