Braking ability is adequate and is controlled via an easy-to-modulate pedal, despite some mushiness in the first inch or so of travel. Unsurprisingly, the all-wheel-drive version's greater mass was a hindrance here, as its 185-foot stopping distance from 70 mph was nine feet longer than what the front-drive SEL needed.
