The U.S. Attorney's Office joined forces with law enforcement agencies across Tennessee to announce the indictment of multiple individuals within the state with alleged ties to the Venezuelan criminal gang, Tren de Aragua (TdA). Acting U.S. Attorney Robert McGuire, alongside leaders from the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), and other federal agencies, revealed the culmination of an extensive investigation spanning both Nashville and Texas.
This investigation focused on an alleged sex trafficking ring operated by the indicted individuals. Officials stated that the operation involved recruiting women from Venezuela under the pretense of a better life in the United States. Once in the U.S., these women were allegedly subjected to threats and coercion, forcing them into performing sexual acts as a means to regain their freedom.
