With quieter weather for Western Washington, Mother Nature is turning up the temperatures, taking us to an uncomfortable-for-most high of 89 degrees on Wednesday.
Thursday’s record temperature is 88 degrees. Right now, I expect Seattle to reach 90 degrees on Thursday, ultimately breaking that record. If we do that, that’ll be the 11th time this year.A red flag warning is in effect for areas susceptible to fire danger. Right now, our focus is on the Cascades and points east. Mid-level instability could produce a round of thunderstorms, but right now the threat is low as there is no notable moisture in the air to cause that.
An excessive heat warning is also in effect for the Cascades valleys and east. Some areas will hit triple digits, which again increases the concern for heat-related illnesses. A heat advisory is in effect elsewhere as highs will be in the upper 80s to 90s. The only locations you can find relief from the excessive heat are along the coast, the Strait, and the islands.
By this weekend friendlier temperatures are in store for us! We’ll notice a “cool down” starting as early as Friday, but by Saturday, temperatures will average low 80′s, high 70′s and stay that way through Monday.
