One teenager is dead and another was injured after a shooting outside an Atlanta high school early Sunday morning, police said.
Officers with the Atlanta Police Department responded to a report of multiple people shot at Benjamin E. Mays High School at around 2:27 a.m. Two victims, a 16-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, were found on scene and taken to local hospitals.The victims, who were both rising juniors, have not been identified. It's not clear if the teenagers attended Benjamin E. Mays High School."My heart goes out to both families, and definitely to the family of the decedent," he said.
Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Lisa Herring called the shooting, which happened just days after the close of the school year,"tragic."
