CBS has announced Taylor Tomlinson as its latest host for the network's late-night lineup, with Tomlinson getting her own show at the age of 29.
Tomlinson, a stand-up comedian, will host After Midnight, which is scheduled to air after The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. With the assignment, Tomlinson becomes the youngest host in network late-night television in 20 years and is also currently the only female host of late-night network television.Stephen Colbert made the announcement of Tomlinson's show during his episode on Wednesday, where Tomlinson appeared as a guest.
"I've never had a real job," Tomlinson said when Colbert asked her what excited her about her new job."I've been doing stand-up since I was 16, which is not a job. I mean, I worked at a buffet and a wax salon, like not real, I didn't have a job."Prior to getting the new show, Tomlinson was featured in two comedy specials on the streaming platform Netflix, titled Quarter-Life Crisis and Look at You.
Tomlinson's new show will fill the spot previously held by The Late Late Show, which featured James Corden as its host. Corden announced earlier this year that he would retire from hosting the show and move back to the United Kingdom.
