“Take me out to the Ballgame:” Staten Island FerryHawks to honor NYPD at weekend game

The June 2nd game will see the FerryHawks go toe-to-toe with Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at the Staten Island University Hospital Community Park. The event is said to be a thank you to New York’s Finest by celebrating its members through what has been dubbed NYPD night.

“We are very fortunate that there are men and women in service here on Staten Island who wake up to protect us and let us go to work without worrying about too much,” President of the FerryHawks Eric Shuffler said. “This Friday night we have chosen a game to honor them.” While Shuffler promises that baseball fans will enjoy a thrilling evening of sports, $5 from the ticket price will be donated to the PBA Widows and Children’s Fund, an organization that provides aid to the families of fallen NYPD officers. The event will also include family activities centered around members of the force.

“I would like to thank the FerryHawks for all their support for us, especially this great cause of the Widows and Children’s Fund. But I also want to thank them for the help they’re doing engaging in the community and really being an anchor,” Deputy Inspector Spataro said.. Tickets can be purchased here:

“I encourage all of New York City to come out and support the police and support the FerryHawks,” Shuffler said.
