Thirty-five percent of Filipinos believe that senior high school students should be required to take the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps or ROTC, based on the SWS survey results that were released on Thursday, May 4. ManilaBulletin READ:

The First Quarter 2023 SWS Survey results also revealed that 35 percent of Filipinos think that ROTC should be compulsory for senior high school students, while 22 percent believe that ROTC should not be included in the curriculum.

Those in Balance Luzon had the highest support for ROTC to be an optional course at 47 percent, followed by Metro Manila , Mindanao , and Visayas . Meanwhile, the Visayas had the highest level of support for senior high school students taking ROTC as a required course, followed by Mindanao , Balance Luzon , and Metro Manila .

SWS found the highest levels of support for the non-inclusion of ROTC in the senior high school curriculum in Metro Manila and the Visayas, each at 25 percent.The First Quarter 2023 SWS survey was conducted from March 26 to 29, with 1,200 respondents nationwide.
