Authorities obtained search warrants for the Lewises and McCullough in Shreveport, about 200 miles east of Dallas, and all were found with 110 grams of suspected marijuana, two bags of cocaine, a digital scale, packing material and multiple firearms, according to the records.
During the search, Redricous Lewis “jumped from a second floor window and fled from officers on foot,” the records say.The arrests came the night after authorities allege three people carjacked and shot an officer in the leg in the 2400 block of West Northwest Highway, near Storey Lane in northwest Dallas. The officer, whose name was not released, was treated and discharged from the hospital hours later.
Police Chief Eddie García said Wednesday that the officer, assigned to the department’s crime response team, was in an unmarked car conducting surveillance when another car parked behind him, pinning the officer. The shooting was at least the third time a Dallas police officer was shot in the line of duty this year. It’s also the eighth shooting involving a Dallas police officer this year and happened two days after task force officers from Dallas, Mesquite and the U.S. Marshals fatally shot a manThe chief is expected to release video footage and answer questions about the shooting at noon Friday.
