JUST IN: Dutch officials: Suspect has been arrested in connection with Utrecht tram shooting - ameckardt
Police said earlier they were looking for a least one person who might have fled the scene by car, and didn't exclude the possibility that more people might have been involved. They appealed to the public for any photos taken in the area at the time of the incident.
The"threat level has gone to 5, exclusively for the Utrecht province," anti-terror coordinator Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg said, referring to the highest level. Three trauma helicopters were initially dispatched to the scene just after the shooting, which took place around 10:45 a.m. local time. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands said in a statement that"violence like this is unacceptable."
