Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker speaks after the Suns lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Suns are one loss away from being eliminated.
Some Suns players spoke about the future of head coach Frank Vogel, not having a point guard and more at their end-of-the-season exit interviews.Timberwolves G Anthony Edwards tries to get off a shot as Suns G Bradley Beal defends, Sunday, April 28, 2024, in Phoenix. PHOENIX — The first season of the 'Big Three' era for the Phoenix Suns came to an end on Sunday at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“It’s hard to process,” Beal said Monday. “But you’re a man, you take it in stride, learn how to get better from it, and look forward to the summer to see how we can all get better and how I can get better.” Suns guard Grayson Allen added he isn’t sure if having a point guard to run the Suns' offense would’ve changed much in the grand scheme of things.
“I think injuries really shortened the timeframe we had to be the group that we wanted to be,” Allen said. “When you look at the season, you have these benchmarks where you should be and I felt we saw things early on that could be good with our group. But we went the half of the season without our full five out there and then later on we didn’t have time to figure things out, so I think that hurt us.
After the 2024 NBA Draft, the Suns do not own a first-round pick until 2031 which means adding additional talent will pose quite the challenge as general manager James Jones looks to improve the roster from top to bottom. The Suns have work to do in the offseason in hopes of attracting outside talent to bolster the roster, otherwise, Phoenix could face a similar fate as they did against the Timberwolves. The 2024 NBA Draft will be held June 26-27 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The Suns hold the 22nd overall pick. The Suns traded their second-round pick to the Washington Wizards in the trade for Beal.
