FrontPageBets It was an up-, down- and back-up-again round for Mito Pereira on Saturday at Southern Hills. When it was all said and done, however, the Chilean PGA Tour rookie ended the third round of his first PGA Championship with a three-stroke lead.
The golf – and the weather – was not kind to the field on Saturday, making it one of the tougher scoring days in recent memory. Only 16 players remained under par. After Pereira nearly lost a five-shot lead in six holes in the middle of Saturday’s round, he battled back to make three birdies over the final six holes to get in the clubhouse with a three-shot lead.Hot on his heels is Fitzpatrick, who is +360 to win. Fitzpatrick has never won on the PGA Tour and his best finish in a major was T-14 at this year’s Masters.
Justin Thomas, who is 2-under for the tournament and tied for 7th, also has +1800 odds to shoot the lowest final round. He carded back-to-back 67s in the first two days.
