We're looking at 80s for highs on Wednesday afternoon before chillier air arrives Friday into the weekend.
INDIANAPOLIS — For those of you that likewe recommend you enjoy every bit of the next 48-60 hours. Today was the third straight day of highs in the 80s.
Tuesday and Wednesday will make it up five straight in Indianapolis with highs of 83° or warmer, marking the longest stretch of such days this late in the season since 2010. In fact, this will only be the eighth time on record of that long of a streak beginning on or after September 30 in Indy. While Indy won't break any daily record highs, the forecast highs of 87° tomorrow and Wednesday won't be too far from the 90° records and well above the daily average high of 72°.But as we've warned, Octobers that start out unseasonably warm or hot typically experience an abrupt pattern shift to just the opposite.
After reaching the upper 80s on Wednesday, temperatures cool down beginning Thursday with the arrival of clouds, scattered rain or thunderstorms, and noticeably more humid air too.Then much colder, drier air sweeps through the state on Friday after the passage of a cold front early in the day. A strengthening west-northwest wind delivers a crisp, autumn airmass for the weekend and easily the coolest Operation Football weather conditions this season, along with some showers too.
Bottom line, a chilly change is likely this weekend and will look and feel more like autumn for a change.
