MALACAÑANG on Wednesday confirmed the designation of Agriculture Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban as officer-in-charge of the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA).
'Yes, until a new administrator is appointed,' Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil told reporters in a text message.
To recall, the Palace last March 24 announced that David John Thaddeus Alba had tendered his resignation amid the SRA controversy involving the importation of 440,000 metric tons of sugar, which was supposedly allocated to three 'handpicked' importers.Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, however, insisted that Alba's decision to step down from his post was due to his 'worsening health condition.'Alba's resignation took effect last April 15.
