Harrisburg School District Superintendent Eric Turman said the student will face disciplinary charges according to the district’s Code of Conduct, and the police were called to the school to do their own investigation.
When an argument broke out between two students leaving Mashall Math Science Academy on Monday, one of them used a pocket knife to threaten the other, Harrisburg School District Superintendent Eric Turman said in a statement.After the student was seen with the knife, staff members ran toward the commotion and the student threw the pocket knew in the direction of a bush to attempt to hide it, Turman said.
There were no injuries reported in the argument. Police were called, and Turman said the student will face disciplinary charges according to the district’s Code of Conduct. The student could also face criminal charges. “Obviously, this is not the kind of news that we want to have to share with you,” Turman said. “Weapons of any kind are NOT permitted on school property. We will not tolerate this kind of behavior in our schools and/or on school property.”
No identifying details of the students involved were released, but the school works with students in grades 5-8. Turman said that overwhelmingly, students are “respectful, hard workers who are eager to learn” and said the disruption to the school community was “completely unacceptable.”Read more on PennLive:
