Pennsauken police detained the 19-year-old driver following the crash in Philadelphia, officials say.
A driver who struck and killed a pedestrian while street racing in Philadelphia early Tuesday was later taken into custody by in New Jersey by Pennsauken police, authorities said.
Two vehicles were racing on Castor Avenue shortly after midnight when one of the cars hit a man near the corner of Aramingo Avenue, according to Officer Tanya Little, aThe driver of the Dodge Charger then sped toward Richmond Avenue and across the Betsy Ross Bridge into Pennsauken, where the car was stopped by Pennsauken police, Little said.
Charges are pending against the driver, a 19-year-old man who was not immediately identified by Philadelphia police. A 16-year-old passenger was treated for an injury to his right hand and forearm at a Philadelphia hospital before being released to his parents.The driver of the second car involved in the street race has not been found.Our journalism needs your support.
