Strake Jesuit claws past Pearland in Buckelew's final home game
Pearland’s Julian Valentine puts up a shot against Strake Jesuit Friday, Feb. 10, 2023 at Pearland High School.In his final home game as Pearland’s head basketball coach, Steve Buckelew watched his team battle toe-to-toe with Strake Jesuit for 2 1/2 quarters Friday night in a District 23-6A matchup.
That’s when Strake Jesuit produced its 10-0 flurry with 3-pointers from Posey, sophomore Lucas Hobin and junior Andrew Love to immediately establish dominance.Strake Jesuit head coach Dominic Amorosa fully expected the tough fight he received from Pearland . “We hit a couple of shots, made a couple of stops, got the lead, and then they had to start chasing us.”
“Once they locked down on my shooter , that made it tough. We play hard, but we’re just young and inexperienced – and Strake is a very good team.”
