Heels star Stephen Amell announces he's begun training for season 2 of the Starz series, while also confirming that filming is set to begin in March. Amell is most well known for his leading performance in Arrow on The CW and landed the lead role in Heels following Arrow's conclusion. Amell is an avid wrestling fan, making his professional debut on WWE Raw in 2015, eventually leading to his role on the series.
Heels season 1 follows two brothers , the former a"heel" or villain of the ring, who audiences are supposed to hate, and the latter a"face," aka the hero of the match. The two play out scripted matches while warring behind the scenes over their late father's wrestling promotion in small-town Georgia. Heels has received attention from many real-life wrestling personalities, with some making cameo appearances on the series.
Heels is surely a comforting respite for fans still disappointed that Netflix's GLOW was prematurely canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, unable to finish its story that was also steeped in wrestling and its history.
