The Pittsburgh Steelers add an edge rusher to their practice squad.
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing another practice squad player, adding linebacker Caleb Johnson, according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson.
Johnson is the second addition to the Steelers practice squad after Wilson also reported the team signed tight end Scotty Washington. The undrafted rookie originally signed with the New York Jets but failed to make their 53-man roster. He'll now join the Steelers and David Perales as the practice squad outside linebackers in Pittsburgh.Johnson started his college career at UCLA, playing 18 games for the Bruins during his junior and senior years.
He finished his career with 137 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, seven sacks, two interceptions, three pass deflections, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. The Steelers will need to create space on their practice squad with the signings of Washington and Johnson. The team will likely announce two releases when they make these signings official.
