States are beginning to lift restrictions on elective health care—but with major changes
Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear and Oregon Governor Kate Brown joined 11 other states on Thursday by announcing they would gradually lift restrictions on elective health care services, with Beshear adding that providers “will operate vastly different than they did before the outbreak of the novel coronavirus 2019.”... the state's first confirmed case of the new coronavirus at a news conference in Frankfort, Ky. Beshear recommended Thursday, March 12, 2020, that the state's schools close for at least two weeks to help combat the spread of the new coronavirus. Brown signed an executive order March 21 ceasing all elective procedures in order to allow hospitals to focus on treating and containing coronavirus; Beshear did the same on March 23.
Plans to lift restrictions are also in place in Arkansas, Colorado, Arizona, West Virginia, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio, Alaska and Upstate New York .
