Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger recently joined The Hang Zone on Sportsradio 96.7 FM/1310 The Ticket [KTCK-AM] to discuss his recent contract...
Yeah it feels good obviously. It’s a situation I’ve never been in before. I’m gonna have to earn the net. My job is to make sure that I’m the best goalie in camp so that I can get the nod for opening night, so that’s what I’m focused on right now. I’m excited to get back to work with the guys and meet the new coaches, and I think it’s gonna be a great year.
Q: Growing up I know you went to a regular high school for a year, but then went on to some kind of a hockey development type thing. What was that?Yeah after my freshman year at Lakeville [High School] I made the U.S. National team and that’s based out of Ann Arbor, Mich., so I went out there for two years and played for the U.S. National team out there for my sophomore and junior year of high school.
