A new galaxy of fear.
Halloween has always been a great time of the year for a little horror and Star Wars will get into that spirit with a new spine-chilling comic anthology of stories taking place in a galaxy far, far away. The Star Wars franchise has always done it best to try and embrace the horror genre, and this year in no exception.
Announced via Twitter, prolific Star Wars writer Cavan Scott announced the autumn release of Star Wars: Tales from the Death Star, a hardcover anthology from Dark Horse Comics. This collection of stories will follow in the tradition of previous Star Wars horror stories such as Tales from Vader’s Castle and Tales from the Rancor Pit, both of which Scott has had a hand in crafting.
One of the first attempts was the '90s 12-books series Galaxy of Fear, written by John Whitman and released by Bantam Spectra, which rode on the coattails of young the adult horror trend popularized by R.L. Stine. Over the years, Star Wars made other attempts at horror, in both the Legends and post-Disney canons. They have met with varying success, but some of the more notable ones are worth mentioning.
This new anthology book from Cavan Scott and the creators at Dark Horse comics has a lot of creepy Star Wars stories to live up to, but Scott is no slouch when it comes to sending chills up the backs of reader. Jedi claim to not feel fear, but Star Wars: Tales from the Death Star will be sure to makes its readers feel it.
